Hi, my name is Cole. I’m a writer; that is, to say, I write enough stuff to say I am a writer. Yet I had no specific spot to put my stuff. Lots of supposed ‘blog’ websites are ad-ridden messes or filled with corporate baggage. Microblogging social media like Facebook or Twitter (RIP) isn’t great either for longer-form writings.
Hence, I made this.
The name is a double entendre of sorts: I was born and raised in the Tennessee Valley area, a.k.a. the sticks. I’ve also had the introspection that most of my works deal with concepts of death, macabre, or other bleak settings. So, in musing for a name, I have stories From the River Sticks.
Speaking of musings, this site has two main sections:
Stories, which should be self-explanatory: fiction narratives ranging from short stories to longer-form, episodic tales.
Musings is essentially the ‘blog’ portion of the blog. Again, social media sites aren’t great for topics that need more than 140 or 280 letters, which turns out applies to many, many, many topics. So here is usually where I ramble about life, media, and some other third thing.
There is no set schedule; posts will be posted at any time. A newsletter will be set up once morale improves that will inform you when a new story and/or musing is live.
Finally, and this should be fairly apparent: no generative AI was used in the creation of any of these works. I believe generative AI is antithetical to the creation of art and expression of the human condition.
