If you are reading this, then I have succeeded. I think.
I tend to write a lot, but I could never find a spot to actually write consistently. Once upon a time there was a site called Tumblr that did exactly what I needed to do. But, over the course of years, the site changed to something I did not care for, so the hunt began anew. After a while, I simply just stopped. Nothing really motivated me to do so. Some time passed, and I would write genuine nothings to myself and kept them in my cloud drive, assuming one day I will post them for people to read. I never pulled the trigger on posting it since I always got cold feet at the last second. As life responsibilities came around, I left the idea of a ‘blog’ to rest.
Fast forward to today: i.e., yesterday from this post. Something just ate at my neck and said, “Go make a blog! Now!” And so after some careful digging, I mustered the energy to make my own site to put my writings and ramblings.
I had written two stories in the past year: the first, a story of a man triaging mysterious going-ons allegedly done by a wolf or pack of wolves that I put on some writing site I forgot the name of. It was a spur of the moment idea, and I had looked for places to publish it online. They were all shit, truth be told, but I found one that I was like, “Well, it’s better than nothing.” The second is a story I wrote for a writer’s jam on Newgrounds. I spun up a different story first but found it far too bleak and real for my tastes, so I ended up going with one with a little more ‘whimsy’. I liked that one a lot more, and apparently so did the judges as I got fourth place!
With two stories (and more I want to write, with a much longer tale being woven since 2022) and a bunch of random thoughts yearning to be put into a journal, I figured a dedicated website blog would be the best fit. For one, it lets me have my own ‘branding’: my own logos, drawings, names, URLs, and more. Second, it makes sharing my thoughts a lot easier as I can just drum up a simple link with a memorable URL. Third, I can create a sort of ‘portfolio’ if in the future I wish to take this far more seriously.
Since it is a hobby, I have no set schedule for any stories or musings. They may come tomorrow, next week, next month, or years later. But, this place will be the host of whatever pops in and out of my noggin. I do plan to have a newsletter set up sometime in the future, but I need to get to grasp on a few things first before doing so.
